A brief Stanley Cup followup

Seeing as I posted a few times last week about the Edmonton Oilers, it seems only fair that I round things out with a quick note-for-posterity’s-sake that the Oilers did not win the Cup after all. A very sad affair overall, but it’s hard to fault the team for anything. They put forth a tremendous effort, and the fact they made it to the seventh game of the finals at all was nothing short of a miracle. It really felt like a strong team effort, and while I’m sure it isn’t really any consolation to them at this point, I hope they still feel proud of how far they made it.

The Oilers have made a fan out of me, at any rate; here’s looking forward to another year of exciting hockey from them, and a good Stanley Cup showing, particularly if the Habs are eliminated in the first round again…

It should be noted that it’s the the second time in as many playoffs that an Alberta team made it to Game 7 of the Cup Finals…. at least Calgary only lost 2-1!
