The Oilers live to fight another day

The Oilers took the game with a shorthanded goal, in sudden death overtime, on a breakaway by Pisani. What. An. Amazing. Goal. Keep your eyes peeled for a downloadable instant replay, and treat yourself if you didn’t get a chance to watch the game live. The game this coming Saturday will be back in Edmonton, and promises to be just as exciting as tonight’s was.

CBC.ca has (or perhaps had, depending on when you’re reading this) a neato idea: have someone blog the Stanley Cup finals. You can read the blog itself here. I personally enjoyed the blogger’s comments under Moments to game time, which read “Perhaps our last look at the Carolina anthem singer. She’s got a lovely set of, um, pipes.

Priceless.

We’re down to the wire hockey-wise, as within a few short hours from now the Edmonton Oilers will be facing off against the Carolina Hurricanes for what might very well be the last game of the Stanley Cup playoffs. It’s a best of seven-games series, and Carolina is already ahead three games to one. That means Carolina only needs to win one of the next three scheduled games in order to capture the Cup, whereas Edmonton would have to win all of them. For Canadian hockey fans like myself who have found themselves cheering for Edmonton as the last Canadian team alive in the playoffs, the odds are not in our favour.
